Photography has always been something I loved doing, on an iPhone at least. Coming into digital photography I had no idea what I was doing. I just knew, however, that I found taking photos a fun past time. The most experience I had with even editing an image was filtering the natural colors out of my six grade instagram. Opening photoshop was extremely overwhelming to me. I was definitely intimidated by this class. The first time we were told we had to create a photo assignment around a single topic I thought I had it all under control. During the weekend of shooting I came to find that it was a lot harder than I anticipated. The point and shoot cameras where new territory for me and my subject (my cat) kept moving. I did what I could with the assignment but I knew it wasn't my best work. From there on throughout the rest of the trimester, I worked on the mechanics behind the photos. I forced on shutter speed, aperture, white balance, and patience with the subjects. I learned photography is a lot more technical than it looks; not only do you have to have the creativity to look beyond everyday objects but you have to capture them in the best way possible. I also learned that photoshop is not as hard as I anticipated. Taking time and learning the basics help me create and style my base images to change there context or display. This year has taught me tons of skills I hope to continue using and definitely will keep taking photos.

In this assignment, I photographed shadows. I tried to bring character to the light difference that I photographed. I learned that the best time to shoot shadows is anytime after 3o'clock. Exposure Triangle: SS-1/30 Aperture-4.5 ISO-200

I learned the difference between lighting techniques and how to use a key light to get even lighting on my subjects face. My subject was Gillian.
In this assignment I photographed the MHSAA Cross Country Championship (or the state meet). I focused on the people and atmosphere of the event. I learned about the difficulties of photographing people while they move. In editing this photo I lowered the exposure of the sky as well as upped the vibrance to have the yellows pop.
Exposure Triangle: SS-1/200 Aperture-10 ISO-200 In this assignment we used photoshop to change the context of an image into a spooky image. I learned how to place embedded, distort, and mask images to fit the original.
In this assignment we blended together layers through photoshop in order to make the effect of multiple me. I learned how to import stacks of photos and mask through a certain section of the photo.
In this assignment I shot food. I got the close up details of food around my kitchen. I learned that the white balance can get turned off when shooting in the close-up mode on your camera. However, this can be fixed in Lightroom. Exposure Triangle: SS-1/30 Aperture-4.5 ISO-500
Editing: In this photo I whitened the paper and cropped out some of the blur made by the paper edge to make the focus on the sandwich. I also upped the vibrance to make the bread more vivid. In this assignment I took pictures freely around my house and later used black and white to enlighten their features. I learned how to play with different settings in Lightroom to make a black and white image still have as much depth as a color image. Exposer Triangle: SS-1/60 Aperture-6.3 ISO-200
Editing: In lightroom I used the black and white setting and whitened the light of the flames so that your eyes are drawn to them.
